Moyes: La Real have great spirit

David Moyes commended his Real Sociedad players for their spirit after an epic encounter with Sevilla.

La Real eventually ran out 4-3 winners, having taken an early lead only to be trailing 3-2 with seven minutes to play.

Xabi Prieto’s second goal of the game delivered the points and Moyes was greatly impressed by what he saw.

“The players have shown their quality with this win. We scored four goals, had a lot of the ball and we’ve shown that although we’re harmed by the absence of [Carlos] Vela, we should trust the players who are here. We should be very happy,” he said, AS reports.

“We have seen what these players can do. They’ve beaten Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and now Sevilla. That shows these players have something, and they’ve also shown great spirit.

“They’ve played a great game, created a lot of chances and should be very happy with their work. We were the better team and deserved the win.

“The fans deserve great credit for the win over Sevilla. They’ve always supported us and we’ve always been aware of their support but I think this time they noticed the team was playing well.

“The team was giving them something and that has encouraged them. When the team was behind on the scoreboard, the fans believed. The team has shown great spirit to turn the game around.”
