Nuno: Gaya focused on Valencia

Valencia Coach Nuno Santo believes Jose Gaya is focused on his current club, not rumours of Real Madrid, while he is focused on Cordoba.

Los Che travel to Arcangel on Saturday evening amid speculation Los Blancos are preparing a move for the left-back, to whom Valencia are in the process of offering a new contract.

Nuno spoke about Gaya at his pre-Cordoba Press conference, and also the circumstances going into the match with La Liga’s bottom side.

“It makes sense [to describe the match as a trap] but the need for points makes every game in the competition difficult,” he said, AS reports.

“The delicate situation of Cordoba gives them motivation and intensity, but we also need to win for different objectives.

“It will be a tough match with a lot of emotional baggage. We want to win.

“Bruno Zuculini is a factor, having been with us so long. He knows our routines for matches, our preparation, and [Miroslav] Djukic appreciates he needs to know these things, so he could be a factor

“But each game has a plan and we look for the weaknesses of the opponent and the good points we have. The presence of Bruno is a player who has been with us and we respect him.

“[We’re not looking at third or fourth place]. We’re looking at the next game, Cordoba. We want to play games and we’re prepared.

“We trust in our abilities, in the way we work and we put a lot on ourselves. We don’t hate any opponent. We look forward to every game and we’re up for it.

“It’s always a good time to pick up points. We know our rivals are in other competitions. We don’t know if they’ll be distracted and we only look at ourselves.

“We always come with the intention of winning. Until the end we will fight to be where we want to be.

“I see every player who is in talks for a new contract as very focused on our work and happy at in Valencia [not just Gaya].

“In body and soul this is a project that is developing and needs support from everyone.”
