Madrid make Danilo contact

Real Madrid have reportedly started the process to sign Danilo from Porto, but fear the Portuguese club will play hardball in negotiations.

AS say earlier this week a representative of the Brazilian was in Madrid to speak to Los Blancos but Porto hope to get Danilo to sign a new contract before he makes the move.

That would see his release clause increase in the manner of Radamel Falcao’s before he left Porto for Atletico Madrid.

Falcao signed a new deal a month before moving to Vicente Calderon that took his contract to 2015 and his release clause from €30m to €45m. Danilo’s release clause is already €50m.

AS add that Madrid have already been burned by the negotiating skill of Porto President Pinto da Costa when they were in talks to sign Pepe, and eventually paid €30m for the centre-back.

But Danilo is Madrid’s No.1 target at right-back and it is envisioned he will compete for a place with Dani Carvajal, while Alvaro Arbeloa’s days at Santiago Bernabeu are numbered.

Arbeloa’s contract ends in 2016 and Madrid are already preparing for his departure.

Madrid face competition for Danilo from Barcelona, although the Catalans are under a transfer embargo until January 2016, while Manchester United and Manchester City are both also said to be in the running and will do whatever it takes to complete the deal.
