Xavi Hernandez admits he and his Barcelona teammates have grown ‘tired’ of the controversy surrounding Neymar’s transfer two years ago.
President Josep Maria Bartomeu will appear in court on Friday to testify against charges of tax evasion relating to the Brazilian’s move from Santos in 2013, and the midfielder made no secret of his desire to see the affair draw to a close.
“The Neymar’s theme’s been going on for over a year now, and we’re tired of it,” he told Radio Catalunya.
“It’s a difficult issue for everyone. We don’t like these off-field issues and it’ll be good if the case is closed as soon as possible.
“The other day I was with the President, and we both agreed that it’s uncomfortable for everyone but that’s what we have to endure.
“I’m 35 years old and not as I was before, but like I’ve already said, I’m happy and still think I was right to stay.
“I thought about leaving the club, but now I’m enjoying still being here. I’m fine with my new role. I was raised by Barca and I’m very happy here.
“We were like a machine even at Anoeta but now the results are good.”
