Reus signs new Dortmund contract

Real Madrid target Marco Reus has ended immediate speculation about his future by signing a new contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2019.

Reports in Germany earlier on Tuesday claimed that the forward was close to agreeing an extension with BVB, and this has now been confirmed by the 25-year-old’s club.

“I’m very happy with my decision [to commit to] BVB. Dortmund is my hometown, and Borussia are my club,” he told Dortmund’s official website.

“I look forward to a successful future with the team and having our fantastic fans behind us. There’s still plenty to do, and I want to strongly tackle [our objectives].”

Reus’ previous deal was due to expire in 2017 and could have been bought out for €25m, but it is believed that such a clause no longer exists.
