Enrique: Barca not perfect, but…

Luis Enrique has claimed that it would not be worthwhile for Barcelona to seek perfection but is nonetheless enthused by his side’s ‘lively’ demeanour.

The Catalans head into Wednesday’s Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg against Villarreal on the back of nine straight wins, including a 3-2 victory over their forthcoming opponents in La Liga a fortnight ago.

“We don’t claim to be perfect, it’s impossible. Imperfection can also create beautiful football,” the Coach told reporters.

“I haven’t experienced any extreme situations here. A Coach’s problem is that you can’t enjoy anything, you’re never happy.

“Perhaps [you can] only when the season ends and you achieve your objectives. You can’t live in the past or future, only the present. It’s just a game, then you’re focused on the next.

“We have nine wins, not nine defeats, in succession. It’s significant but we haven’t done anything. A Coach always hopes his team will strive for more and get results.

“What I like is that the team are alive. We livened up after we conceded a goal in the first minute against Atletico [Madrid].

“We’re in the midst of a positive dynamic and playing with an optimal level of confidence.

“Our philosophy, also in training, is to have fun on the pitch. We’re a team who don’t speculate the result. We always keep trying to create danger and score more goals.”
