Fran Escriba says Elche ‘blindly believe’ in La Liga survival this season following their 2-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
Goals from Damian Suarez and Garry Rodrigues allowed the Valencians to climb off the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zone.
“We blindly believe in survival,” the Coach said after the game.
“We know that we’ll suffer [more]. We’re experts in [enduring pain] and it’s our only advantage.
“We won’t hinder ourselves. We experienced this last year and now this season.
“The performance against Rayo was one of our best this season. We deserved to win by a bigger margin.
“[On becoming the Elche Coach with the second-most appearances in La Liga], I’ve now passed some legendary Coaches.
“My contract is long and hopefully I can continue breaking records and match [the exploits of longest-serving Coach] Otto Bumbel.”
