Escriba keeping tabs on ‘Rayo’s Pirlo’

Fran Escriba has singled out Roberto Trashorras as Elche's biggest threat ahead of their match against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Monday.

The Valencians currently sit bottom of the table after two consecutive defeats, and the Coach says the situation could get more desperate for his side if they do not marginalise the impact of 'Rayo's Andrea Pirlo'.

"Rayo are a team who grows around the ball and have good qualities, but I think we won't underestimate their style," he said at a Press conference.

"Rayo are above the group of teams fighting relegation, so I don't think they'll have any problems in staying up.

"They have many options in attack – [Leo] Baptistao, Manucho, [Alberto] Bueno and [Roberto] Trashorras, a player who is Rayo's [Andrea] Pirlo and able to dictate the tempo of his team and the game

"Not only does [Paco Jemez's] team play well, but they also have character.

"The match against Rayo Vallecano is important for Elche because [our home fixtures] will be critical for us to achieve survival.

"It's clear that last year we would not have stayed up without the fans' support because we wouldn't have got the points we badly needed otherwise."
