Tiago has revealed how Diego Simeone’s pre-match predictions came to fruition following Atletico Madrid’s 4-0 victory over Real Madrid on Saturday.
Los Colchoneros were in rampant form during the Madrid derby as they put their arch-rivals to the sword and closed the gap to just three points at the summit in La Liga, and the midfielder – who opened the scoring – gave an interesting take on the match.
“We wanted to close [the gap] on Barca and Madrid in the League. We won three points in [what was] a very good afternoon for us,” he issued to reporters.
“We didn’t give an option to Real Madrid, everything went well from the first minute.
“Our intensity [was key] from the first minute. Madrid played midweek, and it was harmful to them.
“We know we’re strong in front of our fans and we’ve shown that. We wanted to exploit the spaces which Madrid left behind.
“We started the game quickly and found that we could harm Madrid. Our boss has emerged stronger, everything he told us [before the game] happened on the pitch.
“I’ve lived through moments when I haven’t won and times like this, when everything seems to go well.
“Things are very clear to us. We’re very strong and have an identity. If we go down that road, wins are possible.”
