Nuno: ‘Valencia lacked ideas’

Nuno Espirito Santo conceded his Valencia team “lacked ideas” after going down 1-0 to Malaga at La Rosaleda on Monday night.

A Samu Castillejo header on 25 minutes claimed all three points for the Costa del Sol outfit, while Los Che had Joao Cancelo dismissed for a second bookable offence in the second half.

“We started well, getting forward, but after that we lost control of the game and Malaga began to hurt us with their forwards creating chances,” the Portuguese told reporters post-match.

“We failed to solve problems and lacked ideas, although we tried to correct things at half-time, but Malaga dominated us and we weren’t able to mount a comeback.

“In the end we tried but didn’t do everything we could have done, but nothing is definitive at the moment. We still have 41 points yet we wanted 44 and it was not possible.

“We are well within our objectives but need to improve because this League is very competitive.

“Malaga have lots of quality and I must congratulate them. Next week we’ll be looking for victory,” said a defiant Nuno.
