Cesc reveals why he left Barca

Cesc Fabregas says the main reason he left Barcelona to join Chelsea at the start of this season was the strength of Jose Mourinho’s squad.

The Spain international was the Portuguese’s first signing on his return to Stamford Bridge last summer, completing a €33m switch in June, and says he studied the players at his current club before making his decision.

“When Chelsea came of course I studied in my mind how I’d fit in, but I also wrote down the team,” the former Arsenal midfielder told the Daily Telegraph.

“I’d spoken to the manager and knew what he wanted from me, but after that I always try and analyse what kind of squad there is, if it’s good for my style of football.

“Sometimes you can be as good as you want but don’t fit in with certain styles, yet I felt it was a really good move for me after I wrote down the squad.”
