Moyes ‘happy’ with La Real win

David Moyes could not hide his joy after Real Sociedad moved clear of the relegation zone in La Liga courtesy of their 1-0 win against Eibar on Saturday.

A captain’s goal from Xabi Prieto in the second half allowed La Real to open up a comfortable six-point gap between themselves and the bottom three, and the former Manchester United boss admitted he would have taken the result beforehand.

“I’m happy with the match. We’ve moved away from the relegation places and improved over the past week,” the Coach told reporters.

“I would’ve liked us to score more goals, but I would’ve taken the 1-0 before the game.

“We failed to make our good performance count in the first half, but in the end Xabi Prieto did us justice.

“A goal can be enough to win a game. In our last match [at Rayo Vallecano], we lost by one goal in a dead-ball situation and [against Eibar] it was the opposite, although we must create more chances.

“I appreciate the clean sheet and our football, which opened up Eibar’s defensive lines. In the second half, we were even better and deserved to win.”
