Zidane backing CR7 for more awards

Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane is backing Cristiano Ronaldo to win even more Ballon d'Ors during his time with the club.

The Portuguese picked up his third award of the prestigious trophy last week but the Frenchman believes there is still more to come from the Madrid superstar.

“I’m convinced he’ll win more Ballon d'Or trophies because what he is doing right now is out of this world,” Zidane told Marca.

“If he keeps going as he is then he’ll carry on winning it and could even surpass Lionel Messi’s four trophies.”

Zidane also commented on current Madrid players Karim Benzema, Iker Casillas and Isco.

“Karim is an important player for the club and sometimes there is a debate over whether we need to change our main striker, but that would be an error.

“He’s not someone who will get 60 goals a year for the team like Cristiano Ronaldo, but with his qualities he works well with the others and always does what’s right for the team, which very few players are able to do.

“With Casillas we need to be patient and work with humility, like I did in my playing days. It’s better to start badly and finish well than the other way around and nothing about his future has been decided yet.

“As for Isco, I think he is similar to me on a technical level. The fans love him and at the moment he’s having a great time.”
