Enrique: Barca must beat Depor

Luis Enrique has admitted that Barcelona risk bringing the ‘carnival’ back to Camp Nou if they fail to beat Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.

La Blaugrana emerged unscathed from a turbulent week in their history with a 3-1 win against Atletico Madrid last time out in La Liga and a 9-0 aggregate victory over Elche in the Copa del Rey last 16, but the Coach refused to accept that his side had turned a corner.

“I’m pleased with how the first half of the season went, but just as we’re in a position to win everything, we can still lose everything,” he told reporters.

“I always found the environment at the club to be the same, but it’s only an individual perception.

“We expect the same difficulties normally posed when playing away from home. The pitch isn’t perfect because of recent rainfall.

“Our opponents have done a good job to get themselves out of a difficult situation. They'll create problems for us in some aspects of the game.

“If we draw or lose again, the carnival will return. No-one can doubt that the team should always win, but our philosophy and attitude will never change.

“It’s clear that not all players can get minutes, so [Douglas] is in a difficult position. However, he’s training well and has showed intent to improve his situation.

“Munir [El Haddadi]’s gone back [to the B team] because I can’t guarantee him the minutes he deserves.

“Unfortunately only 11 players can start, so it’s better for him to be with the B team and get minutes under his belt.

“Returning [to the B team] will help him. I’m very confident about him and I think he’ll become a major player.”
