UEFA President Michel Platini has praised Cristiano Ronaldo on winning his third FIFA Ballon d’Or on Monday night.
The Real Madrid man picked up the award at a ceremony in Zurich and Platini, whose relationship with Ronaldo has been tense ever since voicing his support for Manuel Neuer, has shown his admiration by writing to the Portuguese star.
“Dear Cristiano, I want to congratulate you on winning the Ballon d'Or for the third time in your career. This is a huge achievement and there is no doubt you have left your mark on the history of our sport.
“Congratulations on all your achievements and good luck for 2015. All the best,” it read, according to the EFE Agency.
