CR7 praises ‘extraordinary’ Ancelotti

Cristiano Ronaldo has heaped praise on Carlo Ancelotti, his boss at Real Madrid, and described him as “an extraordinary man”.

In an interview with FIFA.com, the three-time Ballon d'Or winner also described his most memorable moment from last season’s Champions League final, when Madrid claimed ‘La Decima’.

“Ancelotti handles the pressure and that’s down to his coaching excellence. Wherever he’s been he’s won major honours,” maintained the former Manchester United player.

“He’s an extraordinary man, not just as a Coach but as a human being, and I think the fact he was a player is very significant as he understands everything.

“He is what we call in Portugal ‘pe quent’ or ‘a good luck charm’. He’s a winner and tries to instil that into us. His appointment at Madrid was a good and important move as we’ve won the biggest trophies around with him.

“But winning and lifting the Champions League trophy was a memorable moment, the culmination of everything – the emotion in the final itself, the suffering, then scoring in the last minute.

“Also the fact the game was in Portugal made it a beautiful and historic moment. It was unforgettable for our fans and anyone who plays there will tell you how important it is to win the Champions League, especially ‘La Decima’.

“It was the highlight of a fantastic year, for both club and country. Not long ago we also won the Club World Cup, which was also very important, and it was just an unforgettable year.

“I’ve got some great memories as it was probably my best year on both an individual and collective level.”
