Portuguese football agent Jorge Mendes believes Cristiano Ronaldo is the best footballer in history.
Mendes saw his countryman pick up a third Ballon d’Or award on Monday night and told Onda Cero’s ‘Al Primer Toque’ programme there is no doubt Ronaldo is not only the greatest player ever, but also the best athlete.
“The award is for Ronaldo and Real Madrid, while Cristiano has already said he owes it to [boss] Carlo Ancelotti and his teammates,” said Mendes.
“But we have before us the best athlete in history and there should be no doubt that it’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He has won the Ballon d’Or this year and he’ll do it again next year. He already has an advantage in that he scores goals, but he will need to be careful.
“If [the other two nominees] Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer played alongside Cristiano then the other teams would finish 30 points behind.
“If you study Cristiano’s daily life the thing that people don’t see is what he does with the kids, that he cares,” he concluded.
