Villarreal are contemplating a January transfer swoop for Celta Vigo winger Michael Krohn-Dehli, according to Periodista Digital.
The Yellow Submarine are looking to replace Cani, who was recently released and snapped up by Atletico Madrid, and see the Danish international as the ideal substitute despite his advancing years.
Krohn-Dehli is out of contract in the summer and it is understood he is reluctant to pen a new agreement at Balaidos, while he would welcome a move to El Madrigal.
The 31-year-old, who has played in all Celta’s La Liga games this season but is yet to find the back of the net, joined the club from Brondby in August 2012 for a reported €1m.
Villarreal boss Marcelino, however, could face competition for his signature as Sevilla are also rumoured to be interested.
