Aston Villa are expected to tie up a deal to sign Valencia midfielder Carles Gil on Tuesday, according to reports in England.
The 22-year-old is due to thrash out a five-year deal with the Premier League outfit and is likely to cost in the region of €4m as boss Paul Lambert looks to bolster his attacking options.
Villa have scored just 11 goals in 21 League games this term and sit just three points clear of the relegation zone, while Lambert is hoping Gil can provide some much-needed ammunition for striker Christian Benteke.
A product of Valencia’s youth system, Gil was loaned out to Elche for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 campaigns but has struggled to hold down a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side after returning to Mestalla last summer.
Gil, who has made just two starts this season and has had to be content with a role on the substitutes’ bench, would be reunited at Villa Park with Colombian midfielder Carlos Sanchez after the pair played together at Elche.
