‘I’ll only leave Barca if…’

Luis Enrique has revealed ahead of tomorrow's encounter with Atletico Madrid that he will only leave Barcelona if he loses the support of his players.

The Asturian Coach has joined his employers in coming under scrutiny this week following speculation of a bust-up with Lionel Messi, but he insists a lot of 'malicious' information has been reported by media quarters.

“I feel strong and eager to give the best version of myself. In fact, I feel increasingly stronger. It must be that I love the controversy,” he joked at a Press conference.

“What I can confirm, however, is that the day I see my players stop following me, I’ll leave, but I still feel as if it’s my first day here.

“It’s distasteful to see my people criticised as the responsibility ultimately lies with me.

“There’s a lot of information out there, some of it malicious, but I don’t want to play this dangerous game, so I won’t confirm or deny any of it.

“I don’t want to feed the controversy, neither are the fans stupid. They’re also tired of the bickering. There’s no division, everyone supports Messi and Barca.

"The tension will last for the whole season. It’ll only die down if we win the League, but the players and coaching staff are used to it all.

“There's nothing which distracts me. All I see behind closed doors is something which motivates me.”
