Villarreal have joined the chase to land Arsenal winger Joel Campbell on loan until the end of the 2014-15 campaign.
The Yellow Submarine believe the Costa Rica international would be the perfect complement to Denis Cheryshev on the opposite flank and feel they have a chance of bringing the 22-year-old to El Madrigal.
However, any decision on Campbell’s future will be down to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who wants the player to sign a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium as his current agreement is due to expire in January 2016.
Villarreal are not the only club eyeing Campbell, according to AS, with Real Sociedad also keen to bring him back to Spain after his successful loan spell at Real Betis during the 2012-13 season.
La Real boss David Moyes says the Basques are considering a number of options although “it’s not my policy to talk about players from other clubs because that’s disrespectful”.
