Arsenal are willing to break the bank to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco, according to a report in the Daily Star.

The Gunners are ready to make the European champions an €80m offer to tempt the 22-year-old into moving to the Emirates Stadium, while if successful it would be the most expensive transfer in the club’s history.

The former Valencia and Malaga player is having a brilliant season with Los Blancos, a fact that has not gone unnoticed in North London, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could be ready to test Madrid’s resolve to hang on to him.

The report claims Isco feels restricted with his part in Carlo Ancelotti’s team, particularly with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the starting line-up, and wants a more hands-on role.

It also states there is a good chance the deal could happen as Arsenal and Real Madrid have a good relationship after agreeing to Mesut Ozil’s €50m transfer last summer.

However, the Londoners are not the only club keeping an eye on the situation, with Manuel Pellegrini, Isco’s former boss at Malaga, also interested in taking him to Manchester City.
