Nuno Santo has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘the best player ever’ ahead of Valencia’s encounter with Real Madrid in La Liga this afternoon.
Speaking ahead of the match at Mestalla, the Portuguese Coach struggled for superlatives to describe his countryman, but he nonetheless outlined the blueprint his side needed to adhere to in how to combat Los Blancos’ attacking threat.
“We must try to attack, we know our opponents and have prepared for them. They have many great players, including the best player ever, Cristiano Ronaldo," he said at a Press conference yesterday.
“He’s the perfect machine. We’re going to go on the offensive at Mestalla. The fans will be behind us.
“The guard of honour doesn’t bother us. As a big club who respect others, we must recognise their merits and do [the guard of honour]. Someday we hope to receive one.
“Enzo [Perez] is prepared. Physically he is fine and if we think he’s ready, he’ll play. He’s a very complete and versatile player who’s good in possession and has good offensive capability. Hopefully he’ll bring these good traits into midfield.
“Beating Real Madrid would be the same as any other win. Three points would take us onto 34 points, so we have much to play for.
“We arrive well-prepared for the match, aware of what we have to do, and I’m sure we will do just that – play, go for the goal, fight and defend.”
