Cerci ‘wanted Milan move in summer’

Alessio Cerci has spoken of his delight at securing a move to Milan, admitting that he wanted to sign for them – not Atletico Madrid – in the summer.

The winger is set to join the Rossoneri on an 18-month loan, as part of the deal which took Fernando Torres to the Vicente Calderon earlier in the week, thus marking the end of unhappy spells in the careers of both players.

“Will I play against Sassuolo? We'll see. I’ll be very happy if I can play on Tuesday,” he told reporters at Milan’s Linate airport yesterday.

“The No 22 is important because Kaka wore it. I’ll see which number I decide to wear.

“I’m happy to be here. I wanted to sign for Milan in the summer, but the most important thing is that I'm here now, and I'm happy, I’ve already spoken with [Coach Filippo] Inzaghi.”

Cerci, 27, will undergo a medical on Friday before signing his contract and could make his Milan debut against their Serie A rivals Sassuolo on Sunday.
