Florentino Perez has told Manchester United they are wasting their time trying to lure Gareth Bale to Old Trafford.
The Reds have been linked with the Welshman over the past few weeks amid reports that Madrid would like United goalkeeper David de Gea to move in the opposite direction, but club President Perez has rubbished the claims and says Bale is going nowhere.
“Bale is not for sale and we will never listen to any offers for him. I cannot imagine Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo, nor Gareth Bale.”
“This is a unique player who has already given us a lot and is crucial to the future of the club,” Perez told reporters at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai, where Los Blancos are preparing for Tuesday’s friendly with Milan.
The 25-year-old is believed to be enjoying life in the Spanish capital and is keen to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Gareth could not be happier. He has settled well in Madrid, gets on well with the fans and is learning Spanish,” The Sun quotes a source as saying.
