Burgos upbeat over Torres return

Atletico Madrid assistant Coach German Burgos has admitted that a Fernando Torres return to the Vicente Calderon would be ‘wonderful’.

In an interview with Cope, the former Atleti goalkeeper conceded that the recent rumours linking the 30-year-old with the club where he started his professional career were not wide of the mark, although he refused to confirm anything.

“A return for Torres? I don’t want to cause any misunderstanding and I’m just stating my opinion, but it would be wonderful,” said the Argentine.

Torres is currently on loan at Milan from Chelsea but has so far failed to live up to expectations, scoring just once for the Rossoneri since his arrival in the summer, and has not featured for Pippo Inzaghi’s side since the Milan derby in November.
