Cruz Azul want Malaga striker

Mexican side Cruz Azul are leading the chase to prise Roque Santa Cruz away from Malaga in the January transfer window, according to AS.

The Paraguay international has scored three goals from 11 La Liga appearances this term and has responded well in the last few weeks, with strikes against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, while an unnamed Major League Soccer outfit are also showing interest.

However, the Mexicans are willing to pay a fee for the 33-year-old and cash-strapped Malaga are unlikely to stand in his way if he expresses a desire to leave.

Nonetheless, the former Bayern Munich, Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City hitman is in no hurry to quit La Rosaleda, his family being settled in the city, and he will have the last word on his future.

There have also been offers for Ezequiel Rescaldani, who has failed to force his way into Javi Gracia’s team this season, with Cordoba and Racing Santander having shown interest in the Argentine striker.
