Valencia expect to complete the signing of Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez this week, according to Marca.
The 28-year-old Argentina international has been on Los Che boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s radar since the start of the season, although the Portuguese giants appear to be stalling on the deal.
Benfica President Luis Filipe Vieira is requesting any transfer talks wait until after Christmas as there is still another week of competition to come in Portugal.
However, Perez will be unable to play in the last fixture of the calendar year as he is suspended, meaning an agreement could be put into place slightly earlier.
Perez joined Benfica from Estudiantes on a five-year contract for a reported €5.5m, although he was loaned back to his former club in February of the following year after sustaining a serious knee injury in a Champions League qualifier.
