Nuno Espirito Santo praised his players’ belief in themselves after twice coming back from a two-goal deficit to draw 4-4 with Rayo Vallecano.

The Valencia boss saw his team go through to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey 6-5 on aggregate at the Mestalla, after which he declared himself pleased with the way in which Los Che had forced their way back into the game.

“I’m pleased with the attitude of my players. I think we have now earned the right to believe in ourselves after this comeback,” the Portuguese told the post-match Press conference.

“We can believe that anything is possible, that we have the answers when things are going against us in a game and that we can still succeed.

“This is the Copa del Rey and it’s a competition where you get these kind of games. We scored early and I thought we’d settle down but then we ended up 3-1 behind.

“We made it 4-2 at an opportune moment but the reaction was fantastic and we played 15 minutes with a man less [after Rodrigo was dismissed].

“It was a stressful game but besides the mistakes and the good things we managed to get through to the next round.

“We’ll analyse the errors and talk about them amongst ourselves but the most important thing, what I take from this match, is that we have found solutions.

“To come back from 4-2 down within 20 minutes is not something any team can do,” he enthused.
