David Luiz admits Barca talks

David Luiz revealed he held talks with Barcelona prior to joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer but admitted it was not meant to be.

The former Chelsea defender had been heavily linked with La Blaugrana throughout the year but instead moved to Parc des Princes in June for €50m, and he was of the opinion that it was not his fate to represent the Catalan giants.

"Everyone knows I spoke with Barca a lot, but I believe in God and in the end my fate did not see me embrace such a project," he claimed at a Press conference ahead of PSG's trip to Barca on Wednesday.

"My present and future is at a big club like PSG.

"Messi has scored many goals and we'll see if he rests a little against us. Barca have also grown a lot in recent games.

"Obviously it's better to have possession of the ball and control the game, but sometimes that's impossible and the most important thing is to win.

"We expect Barca to be at a high level, so we'll try to take our chances against them.

"Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are at another level and both deserve the Ballon d'Or, but Neymar is also a great player.

"He's having a great season, has quality and could someday rival the other two for the Ballon d'Or."
