Moya happy with top spot

Miguel Angel Moya was pleased Atletico Madrid confirmed Champions League progression as group winners by drawing with Juventus.

The game ended goalless and Moya has yet to concede in the competition as Jan Oblak was in goal for the first round defeat to Olympiacos.

“Going through was our primary objective. As the Coach said, we didn’t play for the draw,” Moya told reporters after the final whistle.

“Then, in the last five minutes, the two teams saw the draw was good and it was foolish to risk it.

“We knew we’d have to endure a hard game. We sacrificed all game. We like to start well but when you don’t start well it doesn’t mean you’ll end up badly.

“Now we have to start thinking about the League and who we play in the next round.

“It’s not only me that keeps the clean sheet. Everyone makes a great effort. It’s a story and hopefully it lasts. We like it a lot.

“I don’t have a preference for who we play next. Being top of the group gives you a lot of confidence.

“We’re into the best 16 and whoever we play will be very complicated.”
