Bayern Munich and Germany striker Thomas Muller believes it will be ‘almost boring’ if Cristiano Ronaldo wins the Ballon d’Or award.
Moreover, Muller is further convinced that Lionel Messi did not deserve to be on the three-man shortlist for the accolade, with Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer the other aspirant.
“The idea of Ronaldo winning the award for a second consecutive year is almost boring,” Muller told Sky Sports.
“Another player could have been chosen in Messi’s place. Arjen Robben, for example, has played exceptionally well.
“There are also others from the German national team who deserved to be there, while Neuer has to his advantage that he won the World Cup and produced some great performances.”
Muller also commented on Borussia Dortmund’s demise in the Bundesliga this season, Jurgen Klopp’s team having dropped to bottom of the table following defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.
“At first I saw it as something positive but at the same time I know wish them every point.
“It would be something incredibly momentous for German football if they were to be relegated.
“These things show that in football anything is possible,” he added.
