Ancelotti rotates for Cornella game

Carlo Ancelotti has decided to give some of his star men the night off for Tuesday’s Copa del Rey clash with Cornella at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Iker Casillas, Pepe, Marcelo, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos will all be rested, with Isco, James Rodriguez and Dani Carvajal the only regular first team players from the side that beat Malaga 2-1 on Saturday set to feature.

The big news is that striker Jese Rodriguez returns to the squad following a nine-month absence with a knee injury, while Sami Khedira is also included after missing Real Madrid’s last two matches.

Madrid lead 4-1 from the first leg and new faces to be called up from the club’s reserve team Castilla are defenders Diego Llorente and Javier Garcia-Noblejas, as well as midfielders Javi Munoz and Alvaro Medran.

The full squad is:

Goalkeepers: Keylor Navas and Fernando Pacheco

Defenders: Raphael Varane, Fabio Coentrao, Nacho, Dani Carvajal, Alvaro Arbeloa, Diego Llorente, Javier Garcia-Noblejas

Midfielders: James Rodriguez, Asier Illarramendi, Isco, Sami Khedira, Javi Munoz, Álvaro Medran

Forwards: Jese Rodríguez, Javier Hernandez
