Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic says it was a “wonderful feeling” to have notched a hat-trick in the 4-0 Champions League defeat of Olympiacos.
The Croatian ensured last season’s runners-up got the win they needed to progress to the next stage of the competition, and could not hide his delight afterwards.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to have scored a hat-trick,” Mandzukic told reporters.
“But the most important thing is that we won and secured our place in the Last 16.
“In the knockout stages it’s always 50-50 but we’re showing that we are a really good team, so you never know what will happen. We can beat anyone.
“We’re enjoying ourselves and winning – that’s the most important thing.”
