Elustondo: Moyes is demanding

Real Sociedad midfielder Gorka Elustondo has admitted that David Moyes has demanded more from the players since his arrival at the club.

Moyes took charge of the Basques for the first time in last week’s 0-0 draw at against Deportivo la Coruna Riazor and Elustondo believes there are already signs of improvement.

“It’s no coincidence that the new Coach has come in and we managed to keep a clean sheet after so many games,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“He evaluated us and told us we lacked the necessary composure when going for goal and when we had the ball, but there were a lot of positive things and that’s the way to carry on.

“The Coach wanted us to be a bit more flexible but defensively we were strong, very together, with everyone wanting to keep a clean sheet.

“He demands even more of us, while he wants more rapid movement of the ball and switches in play, so we must give 200 per cent if we want to stay in the side.”

The 27-year-old, who has spent his entire professional career with La Real, feels Friday night’s game with Elche at Anoeta is one where taking all three points is going to be vital.

“Regardless of what any of the Elche players think or what the League table says, we know the quality of the squad we have.

“This year we’ve got points against some big opponents so we know there is a lot of potential.

“We are going to have to get on top of this game from the very first minute so we don’t let these three points escape us,” maintained Elustondo.
