Juanmi: We can beat Atletico

Malaga striker Juanmi has issued a rallying call ahead of his side’s visit to face Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday.

The Costa del Sol outfit head into the clash in fine form, having won five La Liga games in a row, and Juanmi is confident Los Blanquiazules can take something from the encounter.

“We know that we’ll be up against a very difficult opponent that doesn’t lose too many points at home, but we go there looking forward to it and are very hopeful of getting something,” he told a Press conference.

“It is difficult to win at Atletico and they’ve made their stadium a fortress, but we are ready and are going for our sixth consecutive victory.

“Everyone is aware of the potential they possess at dead-ball situations but our boss works hard on every game and gives us all the details.

“We’ll be working during the week to counteract that and we’ll be going for the win from the very first minute, working to our strengths and contesting each ball as if it were the last.”

Malaga will have to do it without the services of the impressive Nordin Amrabat after the on-loan Galatasaray striker suffered a thigh problem playing for Morocco last week, an injury that will likely see him ruled out until the beginning of next year.

“He’s an important player for us and someone who gives us a lot, but whoever comes in will be more than capable. We have to try and get him back as soon as possible.

“I’m sure the Coach will choose the best option because he plans for games very well and will find the right answer,” maintained Juanmi, who admitted that personally he has never been in better form.

“I’m probably showing the best form of my career because I’m playing regularly and enjoy the Coach’s confidence.

“I’m happy and look forward to continue working hard and returning that confidence.”
