Hugo Lloris in Madrid link

Real Madrid could turn to Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris after giving up in the chase for David de Gea.

The France international joined Spurs in summer 2013 for €10m plus €5m in add-ons and has since attracted the interest of a number of top European sides.

However, the Daily Express suggests reports in Spain have it that Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid have now entered the race for his signature as they seek a replacement for 33-year-old Iker Casillas, despite him having a contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2017.

The European champions had previously identified Manchester United’s De Gea as the man to take over from Casillas, yet the player’s alleged reluctance to leave Old Trafford has cooled any interest from the Spanish giants.

It is understood that Lloris, 27, would be open to a move to Spain in a bid to secure Champions League football at this stage of his career, although Los Blancos will not have it all their own way in their attempts to bring him to La Liga.

Spurs’ London rivals Arsenal are also believed to be interested while Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco may also enter the bidding.
