Spain: Cesc out, Busquets doubtful

Cesc Fabregas is expected to be confirmed as out of the Spain squad to play Belarus and Germany while Sergio Busquets is a doubt.

The Chelsea midfielder has a thigh injury, as revealed by Jose Mourinho after Cesc played a full part of the win over Liverpool.

Mourinho then announced Cesc shouldn’t join up with La Roja, AS notes, having already seen Diego Costa not included so he can rest.

Cesc is expected to be missing for three weeks and his withdrawal will be confirmed once the Spain medical staff have signed off on the reports of their Chelsea counterparts.

Busquets, meanwhile, is doubtful with a calf problem and didn’t complete the 90 minutes of Barcelona’s win over Almeria.

The RFEF will in both cases wait until the last game of the Primera round has been played before making an announcement.

In the frame to replace the pair are Mario Suarez, Ander Iturraspe, Juan Mata, Bruno Soriano or Borja Valero.

AS suggest Mario and Iturraspe are the most likely calls as Vicente del Bosque is planning for Euro 2016 and they are the youngest players.

Age counts against Valero and Bruno although Mata is a possibility after scoring for Manchester United against Crystal Palace. He has also been a Spain regular in the past.
