Luis Enrique won’t look for excuses if Barcelona struggle at Almeria despite lamenting the quick turnaround from their Champions League game.
Barca were in Amsterdam on Wednesday and weren’t able to leave the Netherlands until Thursday, but won’t use a lack of preparation time as an excuse against the lowly Rojiblancos.
“They have yet to win at home but they’ve been bolstered lately and can complicate life by closing the spaces,” he said, Marca reports.
“It’s too early to play but it is what it is and we can’t do anything about it. We’re playing away from home and that affects us but there are no valid excuses.”
Enrique did however confirm Dani Alves would continue at right-back and he isn’t considering using a double pivot midfield of Javier Mascherano and Sergio Busquets.
“I have a lot of confidence in Douglas but I don’t think of putting him in. Alves will play,” the Coach said.
“I’ve never used a double pivot. Our system is best understood with a single pivot. Yes, they can play together but not as a double pivot.
“I’ve never done that as a Coach.”
