Bojan: I was a success at Barca

Former Barcelona and current Stoke City winger Bojan Krkic maintains he was a success in his time with the Catalans.

The 24-year-old came through the club’s famed La Masia youth academy and made over 100 La Liga appearances before a €12m move to Roma in July 2011.

Since then, however, Bojan has seen his career falter, having spent subsequent loan spells at both Milan and Ajax, and is presently struggling to find a place in the starting line-up at the Britannia Stadium.

However, he feels his time at the Camp Nou was not wasted and that he contributed to Pep Guardiola’s team.

“Being a home-grown player and achieving what I had set out to do, I consider I was a success at Barca,” he told El Larguero.

“I made my debut very early and a lot of things happened to me at a young age, but I chose the best time in Barcelona’s history and played with the best players in the world.

“They weren’t perfect years, although there were times when I contributed a big part to things and that was very important.”

Bojan also alluded to his last spell with La Blaugrana, when he returned from Milan after the Italians had decided not to exercise their buy-back clause.

“I can’t remember what happened with Guardiola. There were some good times under him but others where I had no luck,” said Bojan, who also spoke of the Champions League clash between two of his old clubs, Barca and Ajax, on Wednesday night.

“You’ll see a great game and it’s a fantastic setting for it. Both clubs have a very similar philosophy.

“Barca have so much potential. When Luis Suarez gets his first goal and plays more games with Lionel Messi and Neymar then they’ll have dynamite up front,” he maintained.
