Andoni Zubizarreta has rejected suggestions Real Madrid are similar to Barcelona under Pep Guardiola.
Barca director of football Zubizarreta was asked his opinion before boarding a plane to Amsterdam, where Luis Enrique’s men will face Ajax in a Champions League Group F game on Wednesday.
“No, honestly no. I think Madrid are a powerful machine with their own characteristics and the way they play, although we have an obsession about comparing things.
“I think life is richer than that and we should be building things for the future.” he commented.
The former goalkeeper was also asked if he saw Madrid as an even greater threat now, particularly since they have won 11 consecutive games.
“There were also our great rivals when they lost at home to Atletico Madrid and then at Real Sociedad.
“And there are also other teams who should not be dismissed, such as Atletico, Valencia and Sevilla.
“This is a very good League with good players and good supporters, so that’s what we must enjoy too.”
Zubizarreta went on to reiterate President Josep Maria Bartomeu’s words that the club has total confidence in boss Enrique and what he is trying to achieve.
“We have absolute faith in him and he’s doing very well. We don’t need to tell him about the demands of this club.
“It’s not only about winning, but how you win, and in that sense he’s relaxed, so you haven’t got to explain how Barca need to win games,” he asserted.
