Barca embargo appeal heard in December

Barcelona’s appeal against their FIFA-imposed transfer embargo will be heard in December by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Mundo Deportivo reports that CAS have accepted a request for an expedited procedure and FIFA have agreed that the case will be heard in Lausanne on December 4 and 5.

Barca hope that the speedy appeal will lead to the club winning a reduction to the punishment that currently means they won’t be able to make new signings until two transfer windows have passed.

Should Barca succeed in getting the ban brought down they would be barred from transfers for only the January 2015 window and be free to make signings next summer, rather than having to wait until January 2016.

Barca were originally sanctioned earlier this year for signing and registering players under 16.
