Report: Arrasate exit to be confirmed

Real Sociedad are expected to announce on Sunday that Jagoba Arrasate is leaving his position after defeat to Malaga.

AS reports that confirmation is likely to come after the board of directors met following the 1-0 reverse at Anoeta. A ‘period of reflection’ was agreed but Arrasate has been on the brink for more than a week due to La Real’s poor start to the season.

President Joakin Aperribay is to oversee a series of meetings throughout Sunday at which Arrasate’s fate will be decided after the decision-makers ran out of patience with the Coach.

La Real have taken only six points from their opening 10 League games and were eliminated from the Europa League by Krasnodar before the group stage.

While Arrasate will give up his post as Coach it is possible he will be given another role within the club, AS note, as he is considered ‘a club man.’

There have been negotiations with potential replacements but nothing has been agreed, it is thought, as David Moyes, Thomas Tuchel and Pepe Mel have all been contacted.

Moyes is understood to be the latest front-runner with AS revealing there is ‘cautious optimism’ regarding the former Manchester United and Everton manager and the imminent vacancy.
