Real Sociedad sack Arrasate

Real Sociedad have confirmed the departure of Jagoba Arrasate as Coach with David Moyes, Pepe Mel and Thomas Tuchel contenders for the vacancy.

Marca add that former Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella is also a possible replacement at the club hope to have a new man in position in time to play Atletico Madrid at Anoeta on Sunday.

Arrasate leaves La Real after little more than a full season in charge, having replaced Philippe Montanier in the summer of 2013.

The Basques finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League in Arrasate’s only full season in charge but were knocked out of the competition before the group stages by Krasnodar and have picked up only six points from 10 games this season.

Arrasate’s final game in charge proved to be a 1-0 home defeat by Malaga, with Juanmi scoring the decisive goal in the second half.

AS say Asier Santana and Imanol Sheriff will take training on Monday. It was thought an official statement would come from the club then but the news has been confirmed on Sunday evening.

Arrasate took charge of 48 League games, winning 17, drawing 14 and losing 17, AS add.
