Arrasate: The end might come

Jagoba Arrasate acknowledged that Real Sociedad’s run of bad results could lead to his departure as Coach.

La Real fell to another home reverse against Malaga amid reports that Arrasate was on the brink of leaving his position due to the team’s awful start to the season, picking up only six points from 10 games and being knocked out of the Europa League.

A Juanmi goal condemned Sociedad to defeat and potentially Arrasate to an exit and speaking after the match, the Coach said he wasn’t thinking about what comes next.

“The players are down and hurt, like everyone else, because we have missed another opportunity,” he said, AS reports.

“The President visited and encouraged us, as always. This isn’t the time to talk, think or make decisions.

“When you don’t get results you make changes, that’s normal and many changes to the team are not a good sign.

“When you keep losing you know the end might come but this isn’t the time to think about it.

“I’m hurt because I had hope and we lost and our position in the League gets worse. Today wasn’t our day either and we lost another opportunity to escape the bottom teams.

“The game has just finished and now isn’t the time to think about training on Monday or the next game or the next weekend. It’s time to think about tomorrow.”

Arrasate was asked why the team are struggling so badly when more was expected and pointed to a number of mental factors, as well as decisions not going in their favour.

“It’s true we lack confidence and fluency and we’re making mistakes in defence,” he conceded.

“We need some luck and our attacks aren’t right. When you’re on a bad run everything goes against you.

“There’s been two games when we’ve had options to go in front and we couldn’t for that reason. But we’re struggling because of our own shortcomings.”
