Butragueno hails Madrid midfield

Emilio Butragueno has hailed Isco, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos after Real Madrid rolled over Granada.

Los Blancos took a 4-0 win from Los Carmenes with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and a James Rodriguez brace.

But Isco, Modric and Kroos also caught the eye, with Butragueno commending the trio for their displays in midfield.

“Isco is playing well and helping us a lot,” he said, AS reports.

“Modric has played many months in a key position and has formed a partnership with Kroos that gives great security in the game.

“And when they get the ball they improve the play, passing short or long. They are essential, a fantastic pair.”

Butragueno was similarly impressed with the win over El Grana in general, particularly Madrid’s opening 45 minutes.

“We were very effective in the first half. The second goal gave us peace of mind and the third decided a game that was played at a difficult place to come.

“We’re playing well, no matter who is on the pitch.”

Butragueno also dismissed talk of a Madrid move for young midfielder Lucas Silva, instead preferring to discuss players already at Santiago Bernabeu.

“It’s not the time to talk about players who aren’t here,” he replied.

“We have an important game on Tuesday against Liverpool in the Champions League and a demanding schedule from now until Christmas.”
