Suarez ‘fat’ taunts a newspaper stunt

Luis Suarez’s fitness Coach with Uruguay says the ‘fat’ insults the Barcelona man received were a stunt dreamed up by the Press.

The former Liverpool striker’s fitness was questioned after his friendly appearances for Barcelona and Uruguay, when he was still serving a four-month ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

However, Jose Herrera, known as the ‘Professor’, spent some time with him on the national team’s tour to Asia in October, when Suarez was part of the side that played against Oman and South Korea, and completely refutes the suggestion.

“Luis in great shape both physically and mentally and he looked great to me in El Clasico,” Herrera told Montevideo’s Sport 890 radio station.

“It wasn’t easy to make your debut like that and I took what they said before about him being fat as a newspaper stunt.

“He looked great to us when he played those two games for Uruguay.”
