Real Madrid striker Javier Hernandez has vowed to ‘seize any opportunity’ after getting on the scoresheet against Cornella in the Copa del Rey.
The Mexico international has struggled to break into Los Blancos’ first team since arriving from Manchester United on the last day of the summer transfer window.
However, Chicharito was handed a rare start against the Segunda B outfit – a decision which he vindicated, as he netted Madrid’s third goal in a 4-1 victory.
“I’m working hard to seize opportunities and do my best for the Madrid badge,” he told reporters.
“The boss asks us to be professional and respect every opponent. We played like we did in the Clasico.
“I won’t get into this debate [about being a substitute]. I’ll prove my quality when I’m playing.”
Chicharito then explained the build-up of his goal: “James passed to me, I met Benzema’s rebound from behind and was focused on [hitting] the target.”
