Manchester City have joined the race to sign Sami Khedira and are weighing up a January swoop for the Real Madrid midfielder.
According to the Daily Mail, the German international has been unable to agree terms on a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and Madrid are willing to sell him in the next transfer market, providing their asking price of around €10m is met.
The 27-year-old has been the subject of speculation linking him with Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, while he is understood to be ready to lower his wage demands to secure a January move and City boss Manuel Pellegrini is monitoring the situation.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti recently indicated that he is in favour of keeping Khedira – at least until the end of the current campaign.
“If he wants to sign a contract extension then the club will renew. If not, he’ll leave at the end of the season.
“We have until June to reach agreement with him,” said the Italian.
