Luis Enrique has no regrets over naming Luis Suarez in the Barcelona XI to play Real Madrid despite defeat in El Clasico.
The match was Suarez’s first competitive action since June after he completed a four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini.
Suarez played just over an hour of the 3-1 reverse and his contribution, aside from providing the pass that led to Neymar’s opening goal, was minimal.
But Enrique told reporters after the match that it wasn’t a mistake to start the former Liverpool forward.
“Suarez was fine. I don’t regret starting him. We hoped for another type of game, a less open one,” the Coach said, according to Terra Deportes.
“We wanted a game where we weren’t so light in defence. If you don’t work hard against these teams then it costs you.”
